How to choose an artificial turf installer in Scottsdale

1. Start with the use

Is the turf for a family yard, a dog area, a putting green, a playground or a sports area? The product, the infill and the base differ between uses. Start with companies that state your use in their own words, and confirm the product before you book.

2. Verify the ROC license yourself

In Arizona, contractors are licensed by the Arizona Registrar of Contractors (ROC). Ask the company for its ROC number and verify it yourself with the Registrar: 7 of the 20 companies in this guide publish an ROC number on their own website, and their numbers are shown on their profiles. For every other company here the credential is claim-only, not confirmed, or not published until you verify it yourself. A claim on a website is not a verified credential, and a review-site badge is not a credential.

3. Ask about the base and drainage

Ask the company to explain the base it builds (excavation depth, compacted road base, decomposed granite, edging, weed barrier) and the drainage rate of the system, especially for pet areas. A quote that does not answer that question is not comparable with one that does.

4. Ask about pets and odor

If you have dogs, ask whether the system uses high-flow backing and antimicrobial infill, how cleaning works, and what the company recommends for odor control. Pet systems are named on company sites in this guide; ask whether they are included in your quote.

5. Ask about the warranty, in two parts

Ask what the product warranty covers and what the labor warranty covers, for how long each lasts, whether either transfers to a new owner, and what maintenance it requires. Get both warranty terms in writing.

6. Ask about crew, timeline and maintenance

Ask who does the work — the company's own crew or subcontractors — how long the job takes, and what maintenance the turf needs (brushing, rinsing, infill top-ups, cleaning). Ask whether the company also offers cleaning or restoration.

7. Service-area companies

A service-area company serves Scottsdale but publishes no street address on its own site. That is not a red flag on its own, but confirm response time, who comes to your home, and whether the crew is in-house or subcontracted before you book.

8. Get it in writing before work starts

Scope (product type, pile height, infill, base, drainage, pet system, warranty), installer, timeline and total price should all be in one written quote. Verbal promises about price, timeline or results are hard to enforce later.
